On our first day here Gloria (our host mother) mentioned a children’s park in town but communicated she’d basically written it off.
In our meanderings around town this morning, Kinsley and I ran across said park. Gloria was right in that the fountain was dry and most of the playground equipment was broken. The grounds were raked, however, and there was a shaded and reasonably functional trampoline with something of a guard mesh around it! Today was a holiday in La Ceiba in honour of the city’s patron saint, Isidore the Laborer. K enjoyed watching some of the kids who were not in school and got up the gumption to join them finally. By the time we had to leave, needing to stop jumping was the worst travesty known to humankind!
