Oma’s Tree

Oma, Cal’s grandma, lives in Loveland Colorado. Oma is Dutch for “Grandma”, and that’s Kinsley’s name for her.  Recently, the old trees in her yard were struck by lightning and had to be cut down. Just the stumps were left when we arrived.

Monday, the guys started helping with the tree. It started out most difficult – watching the tree cutters grind the stumps

The tree cutters obligingly started the hole for the new tree, but it wasn’t nearly big enough. The new tree was supposed to arrive Thursday evening. By Thursday morning, there were no more excuses and the hole was widened.

Kinsley was so excited to dig.

The tree didn’t come after all on Thursday evening.  They promised Kinsley they would dig some more tomorrow. All day Friday, as soon as Cal or Dad would finish a task, Kinsley would say “Dig?”

Finally at 5:30, the tree came.

Kinsley was eager to do his share:

After supper it was time to stake and tie the tree.

At 8:30pm, Kinsley finally agreed to rest and watch.
